While living in NYC in the early 1990's, I studied figure drawing at Cooper Union and Spring Street Studio. After moving to Santa Fe in 1997, I continued attending life drawing groups and have shown my work at Brad Smith Gallery, A Sea in the Desert Gallery and Linda Storm's Studio.
My work is influenced by my love of birds, the night sky, the seasons, dreams and everyday life. For this show, I continued with my practice of making a drawing every day, and I also painted a drawing I made in 2020. When the pandemic began, I worked for several months on a series called, "Send in the Steller's Jays". A trip to Joshua Tree a couple of years ago inspired a series called, "The Birds of Joshua Tree". "I stopped worrying about the Magpies" is a series of paintings about how I initially disliked magpies but soon became captivated by them. [email protected] |
