This year I worked on making art as a way to move through grief. I’ve been cutting up old paintings to create collages about my experience of grief. I have been sorting, tearing, cutting, taping, gluing, reading through my journals, writing, remembering, reflecting, making a giant mess, and hauling scraps of paper to the recycle bins. Turns out that transforming the past into the present is a messy proposition.
Although the process is still unfolding some of the images and reflections that emerged during our 31- Days of Art are in the Garden Hose Gallery, D3. With love, your neighbor, Suzi O February 7, 2021 |
