I prefer to think of this as a Creativity Statement, as I'm not sure what "art" is and therefore what an "Artist" is. As a former art therapist, I think we all have the capacity for creativity, and display it across many activities and spheres of life. For example, what I love about my professional work is the intellectual creativity involved. Mobile: I made my first mobile for my oldest daughter's crib, a black and white contrasting carousel. (She returned the favor a few years ago: I have had her large mobile of turtle bones hanging in my living room for some time.) Who knows why we're drawn to a particular form, but I love the combination of the hanging stillness of the mobile elements even as they move together. This is an experiment in that it is my first use of "art" (the watercolor wraps) in a mobile, along with natural elements. I like the contrast. Glass: I have loved the process of glassblowing since my first introduction 30 years ago, but only recently have I had an opportunity to work with this medium more regularly. I'm still quite a beginner. The pink chili peppers were made with Valentine's Day in mind.
